On the evening of Saturday, September 7th 2024, the opening -vernissage of the solo exhibition "Tracks of Meaning" (Atrapi ennias) takes place, by the painter, poet and Emeritus Professor of Geopolitics of the University of Athens Dr. Ioannis Mazis, at the "Vasiliki-Galerie d'art" in Nafplio, curated by Vassiliki Xylina.
In the art of Ioannis Th. Mazis, we feel the contemplative pleasure of meaning with materials as tools, drawing, color, form and the humanity of Conception. We feel a pleasure that, through reflection, offers mental uplift, elation, hope, relief and having as a common factor in all of this, the sacred surprise of the natural or metaphysical "newness".
The mysticism, therefore, that characterizes a work of art by John Th. Mazis, is not described... it is simply experienced. And it refers not only to its creator but, above all, to its viewer, because he or she will be its judge.
This is what John Th. Mazis supports with his "studies" with acrylic paints on canvas and wood, with oils on canvas, with pastels on wood and in his pencil drawings on paper. His painting works with the archetypal concepts of the cultural elements of European and Greek culture, exploring the essential ritualistic visual thread that connects them. He builds a new research platform for the next step in the perception of the European visual "being".
