The Lion of Bavarians

Do you feel like riding a bicycle? Go outside the City Hall in Trion Navarchon (Three Admirals) square and get yourself municipality bikes.

Lion of the Bavarians
This is the famous Lion of the Bavarians, created in 1836 by the German sculptor Siegel, when King Lewis, Otto's father, asked him to build a monument to the soldiers of the Bavarian Kingdom, who died of typhoid fever between 1833-1834.
The artist then carved into the rock a lion, like the one that was set up in the Swiss Lucerne, in memory of their compatriots killed in Paris during the French Revolution.

Did you know that?
The locals also call the sculpture "Agourion" (cucumber in the ancient Greek), since they think that the soldiers died because they ate many cucumbers!
