On the evening of Sunday, October 27th 2024, the Fougaro Art Center will host the musical performance "Sinatra with a twist". Alexandros Affolter on vocals and Pantelis Benettatos on piano present a special tribute to the timeless figure of Frank Sinatra, through his songs that have been loved and sung -and still are- by many generations around the world for many decades!
Alexandros Affolter, from a very young age, has been inspired by the voice and expression of Frank Sinatra. Together with Pantelis Benettatos, they will present their own jazzy version of the repertoire of the great singer, who was known as "the Voice". Tracks such as I've Got You Under My Skin, Fly Me To The Moon, and less famous ones like I'm A Fool To Want You and All My Tomorrows will be performed alongside Sinatra favorites One For My Baby and Angel Eyes.
The musicians
Alexandros Affolter
He was born in Amsterdam and studied jazz and musical theatre at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. Since 1994, he started performing in jazz clubs and festivals in the Netherlands, England and then in Greece, with musicians such as Dimitris Kalantzis, Dimitris Vasilakis and Serafim Bellos. He has toured many cities in Greece and has performed in all the jazz clubs of Athens, while he is actively involved in drummer Serafim Bellos' project "New bottles, old wine", dedicated to the great divas of jazz.
Pantelis Benetatos
He was born in Piraeus, and while studying at the Law School, he started playing piano with various rock bands in the late 70s. In 1986 he completed his studies of theory and orchestration at the Central Conservatory of Music. He belongs to the most active musicians of the Greek jazz scene. During the last 30 years he has played with many distinguished musicians at festivals and clubs in Greece and abroad. He has collaborated with many artists, while his personal discography includes three albums and has taken part in many recordings. Since 1994 he has been teaching jazz piano at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.
