OSE Theater Nafplio - Greek Music & Dancing, June 24th 2019

The Hellenic Dance Workshop and the Municipality of Nafplio are organizing a Music and Dancing Event on Monday, June 24th 2019, at the OSE Theater in Nafplio.

The dancing group of the Municipality of the Holy City of Messolongi appears as guest, known all over Greece for the presentation of the custom of "Ai-Symios" (Saint Symeon), also by which this city has historically been identified.

The city of Messolongi holds a most important position in Greek history, as it is well known of the heroic "exodus" and slaughter of its residents in April 1826, after many months of Turkish siege and also of its rich cultural heritage (the home of Kostis Palamas, Miltiadis Malakasis, Georgios Drosinis, Charilaos and Spyridonas Trikoupi); all reflected on its main sights.
The feast of Ai-Symios in Messolonghi is one of the most important and most historic events organized in the summer in the country. It has a traditional, historical and religious character and is celebrated by the Mesolonghians twice a year.
