200 Years since the Revolution of 1821 - Greece 2021
The planning of the celebrations for the 200 years since 1821 begins in Nafplio, the first capital of the Independent Greek State.
In preparation for the 200 years' Anniversary celebrations, the “Greece 2021” Committee's Chairwoman Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulos visits cities of historic importance for the Greek Revolution and on Friday, February 14th 2020 she begins the campaign with her first visit and contacts in Nafplio.
The Mayor of Nafplio Mr. Dimitris Kostouros welcomes Mrs. Angelopoulos to the Town Hall and then an open event follows in the first House of Parliament (Vouleftiko). There, Mrs. Angelopoulos presented the campaign's label and referred to the objectives of the “Greece 2021” Committee, as well as also presented the framework of cooperation between the Municipality of Nafplio and the Committee.
The purpose of the “Greece 2021” Committee is to make the actions and events that will mark the Anniversary of the 1821 Greek Revolution not only an occasion for fancy celebrations, but also an opportunity to present Greece as a modern and democratic European state and to lay down our vision for the Greece of tomorrow.
The “Greece 2021” sign (logo) seeks to depict the turbulent journey of the Greek state, with its successes and all difficult times marking it, but also to highlight the need to "go forward" with the roads that open in the future.
