Nafplio - International Piece Day, September 21st 2019
On the occasion of International Peace Day, the Municipality of Nafplio in cooperation with the Argolis Group for Unesco, is organizing a series of celebration events from 19th to 21st of September 2019 at Syntagma Square and the "Vouleftiko" (Old Parliament building).
The Argolis Group for UNESCO, the UNESCO twinned Group of Jollino Italy and the Assossiazone Italoellenika, A.C.C. A. Acaya and PSEC Lecce, in a movement for a world without violence, a world of brotherhood and a common course for peace, celebrate the International Peace Day with dances and songs from the "Great Greece", in collaboration with the Olympic Academy.

Friday, September 20th 2019
19.30 - Vouleftiko
Book presentation of Mrs. Fotini Kaimaki, with projection of marvelous slides. We will travel with photography, speech and music to villages, rocky churches (Cappadocia of Puglia), to people and lullabies from the "Great Greece".
The presentation will be accompanied by the group of Italians with relevant songs.
A brief reference will be made to Pompeo Maritati's book "Greece, From Civil War to the Junta" by the author himself.

19.30 - Syntagma Square
During the main event at 19.30 at Syntagma Square, a short film will be projected, as well as theatrical and dancing acts, while for the third consecutive year we will celebrate the International Peace Day with a group of musicians and dancers from Greater Greece, members of the cultural community of the region and the large organization Italohellinica Assosiazione, about 35 people in total.
Closing the event, as every year, the Mayor of Nafplio Mr. Dimitris Kostouros will address a message of Peace from Nafplio, Greece's first capital, to all the world.

Did you know that?
September 21st was established by the United Nations in 1981 as a Day of Peace to spread and reinforce the ideals of Peace and Non-Violence among the Nations and was celebrated with great success in Nafplio the previous two years. This year is the third celebration.
