A two-day event in honor and memory of the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, is being organized by the Municipality of Nafplio and the Nafplian Foundation "Ioannis Kapodistrias" on the weekend of 28th and 29th September 2024 in Nafplio.
The commemorative events, the speeches, the memorial service, the laying of wreaths and every ceremony to honor the Great Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias, are always taking place on the first weekend after the date of his assassination, on September 27th 1831.
Nafplio honors for another year, the memory of the First Governor of Greece Ioannis Kapodistrias, the eminent politician, who with his genius and administrative ability contributed to the creation and establishment of the modern Greek State, here in Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. At the same time, however, we honor the charity, benevolence and selfless contribution of the donors of this land, who were special and enlightened persons who, with their financial prosperity, contributed decisively to the Municipality's ability to meet the many and varied needs of its citizens. We thank them for all they have done.

18:00 - Vouleftiko Hall:
Commemorative Event of Memory and Honor for Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias, in the framework of the 19th Meeting of the Nafplion International Law Conference. The event is welcomed by:

- Mrs. Tamara Weingerl Požar, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Hellenic Republic

After the greetings, the keynote speaker, Professor P. Kitromilides, Academician, will develop the topic "Ioannis Kapodistrias and Political Theory".

Ceremony of the "Ioannis Kapodistrias" Awards and "Anastasios Polyzoidis - Georgios Tercetis" Awards.

10:30 - Church of Agios Spyridon:
After the "Orthros" and Divine Liturgy, to be performed by His Grace, the Honorable Archbishop of Argolis Mr. Nektarios, a memorial service will follow at 10:30am.
11:00 - Kapodistrias' Square: restitution of honors and laying of wreaths at the statue of the Great Governor.
The Mixed Polyphonic Choir, the "Armatomeni Moraites - Staikos Staikopoulos" Association and the "Ioannis Kapodistrias" Federation of Corfu 's Associations of Attica will contribute in the events.

Ioannis Kapodistrias (Corfu 1776 - Nafplio 1831) is a personality of great importance, not only for Greek history but also for the Russian and European history of the early 19th century.
This two-day event is organized by the Municipality of Nafplio, in cooperation with the Nafplio Foundation "Ioannis Kapodistrias".
Along with the memorial service of the first governor of Greece Ioannis Kapodistrias, on Sunday, September 29th the memorial service commemorates the donors and benefactors of Nafplio. The Benefactors – Donors are: Harold Mc Gaskin, Anna and Ioannis Iatros, Nikolaos and Eugenia Iatros, Takis Ioan, Karapaulos, Vassilios and Kaiti Kontoleon, Dimitrios Manousakis, Alexandros Paraskevopoulos, Maria Kon. Radou, Anastasios Stamatiadis, Ioannis and Ourania Skoubis. Some significant Others are added to these great personalities, as from this year 2024.
At the same time, on September 27-29th 2024, an International Conference on International Law will be held at the Vouleftiko hall of Nafplio: Nafplion International Law Conference -19th period, in the presence of a number of eminent speakers and guests, academics, researchers, law students and politicians.
