On Friday, November 29th 2024 in the afternoon, the Municipality of Nafplio and the "Palamidis" Progressive Association of Nafplio will hold a commemorative event, in the Hall of the First Parliament of Greece (called the "Vouleftiko"), to commemorate the Liberation of Palamidi castle and the City of Nafplio, which took place on the 30th of November 1822, marking the end of the Second Turkish Occupation and the establishment of the modern Greek State.
The solemn speech of the day will be delivered by the literary artist and historian Mr. Pantelis Boukalas.
The Mixed Polyphonic Ensemble of the Municipality of Nafplio, under the direction of the Chief Musician, Mr. Theodossis Antoniadis, will take part in the event. Eleni Belessi on the piano.

The capture of Palamidi castle during the Greek Revolution of 1821 was the successful outcome of the long siege of the fortress of Palamidi by the Greeks and the surrender of the Turks, during the 2nd Turkish Occupation of Nafplio. It was taken on the rainy night of November 29th to 30th 1822, by one of the siege teams led by Staikos Staikopoulos, the hero of the liberation of Nafplio.
