On Sunday, March 5th 2023, the 8th Nafplio Marathon is programmed to take place in the city of Nafplio. The Nafplio Marathon is a multifaceted sporting, participatory and social event. This is one of the largest and most massive events in our country involving runners and walkers from Greece and abroad, also aiming to promote the city of Nafplio, as an athletic, social and touristic destination with a friendly approach to the quality of life and environment.
The 8th Nafplion Marathon is today the third largest sports event in the country. The participants have the opportunity to live an unforgettable running experience, with Palamidi castle, one of the most important monuments of Venetian fortified architecture in Greece as a background, on the lovely coastal route of the Argolic Gulf, with also the trademark of Nafplio, the castle island of Bourtzi and the old town as a background, all in the historic Nafplio!
The Nafplio Marathon is a high-quality sporting event and at the same time a pioneering production, that has created a multisided social event with a variety of actions and programs that promote sports, health, education and culture! The countdown for the Marathon and registrations, in a most beautiful destination of the country, in the enchanting Nafplio, have already started!

The Nafplion Marathon, alongside the competitive part, implements cultural events other actions.
Check out the Cultural program, including free Guided Tour in the historical old town of Nafplio, visits to the Museums and the other famous Archaeological sites around. Mark, that on Sunday, March 5th 2023 (first Sunday of spring) and on March 6th (memorial day of Melina Merkouri), the entrance in all Archaeological sites and Museums in Greece (by the Greek Ministry of Culture) is Free.
Did you know that?
For the first time in Greece, a souvenir of the first Olympic Games' medal of the Marathon Road, awarded to Spyros Louis in 1896, will be offered to the winners of the Marathon and Half Marathon races! The medal is a true copy of the original, which is kept in the Marathon Road's Museum in Marathon.

The Event of Nafplio Marathon is dedicated at the social work of the non profit club named "Orama Elpidas" (Vision of Hope). The primary goal of "Orama Elpidas" is the operation of the Bone Marrow Donor Volunteer Bank to cover the needs of patients, children and adults who need haematopoietic cell transplantation, both in Greece and internationally. The Bone Marrow Donor Volunteer Bank is housed in the Children Oncology Unit "Marianna V. Vardinoyannis – Elpida".
The 1st Nafplio Marathon was held with great success on March 23rd 2014 and has now become an institution.
