Across the Parliament Building, at the edge of Syntagma Square, you will find a shop called "5&14". You will not see any sign, just get in and you will instantly know that you're in the right place.

Tradition meats new generation
The shop has been opened since 1984! A few years ago, Christos received the business from his father and he decided to retain the title and style of the shop: folk art. Traditional carpets and textiles, mats made in a mechanical loom (which you will not find anywhere else in the city), ceramic vases, plaster statues, backgammon table (from Serres), unique handmade mugs and ashtrays with modern, vibrant colors, all of Greek production. A shop that clearly brings to mind... Greece.

The game of thrones
What really surprised me, was the shelf with chess. I asked and learned for their construction: Greek (of course!), different sizes, handmade ceramics. Each of the 32 pessaries, has created of particular art. Quality offered to lovers of this spiritual "sport." No matter the quality of victory, not simply the victory.

Did you know that?
5 & 14 is one of the two or three authentic greek-art shops, which are now-days in Nafplio.
The name "5 & 14" comes from the location of the shop: Staikopoulou 5 & 14 Syntagma Square.

Tip
In the shop you will find amazing wooden, handmade figures of Karagiozis (and all of his friends). Moreover, the art of shadow theater first appeared in Greece in 1841 in Nafplio -coincidence?
You may gaze at the colorful small objects - bracelets, beads, magnets, ornaments - on the outside of the shop.
