Éspero Royal Stay

"Canvas is a journey of its own" and Éspero Royal Stay will be your starting point for a unique journey in art, relaxation and royal stay.
It was in March 2020, when Theodore Dayantis and I were sitting in his -then- new restaurant Éspero Fine Taste and he was revealing to me, that he was preparing his first attempt in the accommodation field. And here I am now, almost a year later, standing opposite the Éspero Royal Stay, facing one of the most beautiful old town hotels, loved even from its first week of operation.
In this restored mansion of Philhellenon square, the hotel manager Katerina Papadopoulou, greets me with a smile -but also a table set with delicacies of the morning. She introduces me to the vision of the owner, guides me to all spaces and discreetly lets me perceive step by step, room by room, the special concept of Éspero Royal Stay. How do rooms intertwine with art, what does it mean to live like a king, how can you indulge in the magic of a painting?

God, save the Queen!
Just three steps are enough to pass the sweet tile-colored entrance, getting a first idea of a "royal residence". The reception on the right is simply the starting point of a long corridor in olive green color, interrupted by recesses with wall lamps. The look focuses on the two oversized paintings, which "tease" the classic with a hard rock mood and make the clear statement: Live like a Queen / Royal Stay, and Live like a King / Royal Stay.

Love at first sight
The long corridor leads you to the unique room on the ground floor, outside of which an old antique piece of furniture declares the emphasis on detail and the worship of the original.
ROMEO & JULIET, the name of this double room, inspired by -what else- Shakespeare's emblematic piece and the most tragic love story of all times. A sweet bright green color encloses the velvet headboard in the bed, and right where you notice the elegant Éspero logo on the fluffy linens, the gold letters on the wall whisper to you: "Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say good night till it be tomorrow". You cannot help but to love this room. The selected works of art, the elegant lighting, the wood on beams and floor, the marble in the bathroom and its courtyard. Ah, this wonderful courtyard, a small oasis of coolness and tranquility, with a minimalist and natural mood, where you lie lazily on the deck chair next to exotic plants, enjoy your drink by the old well or be left relaxed in a dreamy jacuzzi...

Gallery of dreams
Upstairs, each room brings a revelation of colors, aesthetics, relaxing aura and art, as their names are inspired by paintings of famous painters. 
In THE DREAM, the homonymous painting of Henri Rousseau offers his dreamy colors to this double room, with two columns framing the velvet of the bed and paintings of contemporary art "blinking" at the present. The view of Philhellenon square and of Agios Nikolaos' church stands generously in front of you from the big window or the balcony with the elegant handrail.
At MONA LISA, your smile will be wider than that in Leonardo Da Vinci's painting, as you will admire the view of the Argolic Gulf from your window and balcony. At the same time, two Mona Lisa paintings with the motto "feeling different" to cover her eyes are harmoniously combined with shades of dirty pink and dark gray, taking off the Italian elegance.
In THE SWING, the impressive painting by Jean-Honoré Fragonard just above the bed sets the tone of the room, with the selected furniture and French atmosphere. The back balcony hosts your romantic evenings, while the bathroom with mosaic and terracotta shades promises moments of complete relaxation.
At THE BATH, the color palette of Pierre-Auguste Renoir dresses up the double room and hints of the homonymous painting are combined with a warm royal blue. A place you do not want to leave, except in the evenings, where the back terrace will keep you there until the morning hours.

Feeling on top
Going up the -plenty of light- staircase, you reach the two-room attic suite and at the first sight, you realize that THE CREATION will offer you a really special stay.
For starters, it welcomes you in an elegant and comfortable living room, with a vintage piece of furniture painted white, to host the TV, and the open closet to discreetly wait for your clothes. In the bedroom, the bed with the blue velvet headboard enjoys the view of the sky through the gorret-window, while elements of the painting by Michael Angelo and Adam in a clay sculpture give us the magic of art. On the private terrace, the jacuzzi offers you wellness and relaxation with the view of Acronafplia and the Clock to travel your thoughts.
They say that each painting triggers memories, repulsed feelings, desires, different in each person who looks at it. It is not the artist's vision, but your own look, that will give meaning to the painting. Éspero Royal Stay will give you the "table". You just let go and allow yourself to feel...

Did you know that?
At Éspero Fine Taste restaurant, you will enjoy your breakfast (included in the price), a la carte. You will fill in a form, what exactly you want for the next morning, but also the time you want it, so that it is served fresh and warm!
Along with their luxury stay, the hotel guests can enjoy refined ethnic cuisine with modern flavors, in the cozy hall of the Éspero Restaurant.
The location of the hotel in Philhellenon square, with direct access to the port, Syntagma square and every beautiful angle of the old town, makes it your ideal choice.
Although the hotel is very central, its isolation is so good, that no street sound -nor other- is heard inside.
The hotel keeps all protective measures for Covid-19, so you can check in / check out by scanning the QR code, without contact with the reception!
After checking out, you may ask for your luggage to be kept in the storage room, to be able to enjoy a last walk in the city.
Éspero Royal Stay respects the environment, following eco-friendly settings in lighting and water supply.
In the bathroom, you will really enjoy the amenities and products of special care.
The hotel is ideal not only for couples, but also for families. THE DREAM, MONA LISA, THE BATH rooms provide a sofa bed, which can accommodate a child, while the sofa bed in the attic accommodates two people.
Éspero means "I hope" in Spanish.
