In an idyllic location, on the wonderful beach of Plaka of Drepanon village -very close to Nafplio- overlooking the endless blue of the sky and sea, The Grove Seaside Hotel is not just a hotel, but a refuge of dreams, relaxation and tranquility.

In the embrace of the orchard
One sweet autumn afternoon I find myself here, in this blessed place, to meet the owner of The Grove Seaside Hotel, Mrs. Kelly Panagopoulos. I therefore arrive earlier than our pre-arranged appointment, leave my car in the hotel's comfortable parking lot and embark on a small journey of discoveries and revelations, within the magic of this hospitable orchard, as its name (The Grove) very eloquently states out and perfectly captures, through the orange leaves in its logo.
I start my tour from the hotel beach and stand behind the straw umbrellas, between the palm grove, to “steal” some of the sunlight, as it gleams on the deep blue waters.
As soon as I pass through the hotel’s beautiful iron gray door, my eyes are caught by the large swimming pool and its beautiful surrounding area. Director-style chairs and tables, sunbeds in olive and orange shades under large white umbrellas and a row of tamarind trees on the side of the road, frame this watery oasis of coolness!
Two towering palm trees in front of the hotel's building of abstract aesthetics stand -you would say- like vigilant guards, with their protective gaze on the olives, pines and orange trees of the large garden...
I take deep breaths of rejuvenation as I walk towards the hotel’s main entrance. I see on my right a ping pong table, a small swimming pool, a playground with a huge pine tree in it; how many carefree memories the children make here, I think...
I smile, when I see the stand with bicycles for rent, which clearly declares the love of the owner for the natural way of life, and in two steps I arrive in front of a wonderful sight: a rich ivy embraces -decades now- and uniquely frames the wooden hotel’s main entrance; like a painting, like out of a dream!

Welcome to The Grove's world
I walk through the reception area and the large lobby and am amazed at how modern decor elements have been combined so effortlessly with retro references from other eras. The receptionist welcomes me politely with a big smile, and while she talks to me, I admire the painting by the artist Zanna Artemis, which is hanged right behind her.
White and off-white shades, with scattered touches of bright colors, dominate the large and bright lobby area, while the comfortable sofas and intimate corners (such as the corner of the bar or the small library) invite you to them for moments of relaxation together with your loved ones, a group of friends or even alone. The relaxing music that permeates the space, as well as the scent of orange blossoms –especially made for The Grove- instantly put me in holiday mode...

"My God, how much blue do you spend so we can't see you..."
With the kind escort of Mrs. Kelly Panagopoulos -who has taken over the family business in the recent years, setting the bar high in the field of tourism and hospitality- we visit some of the 140 rooms that spread along the hotel’s three floors. Rooms that are well-maintained and spotlessly clean, with decorations that emphasize Greek elements, but also with a nod to the new and different - "Greek with a twist," as Kelly herself calls it. I notice how the minimalistic Greek aesthetic allows details that make a difference to stand out, such as the artful, colorful lighting fixtures that frame the headboards of the beds. However, the real showstopper in the rooms are the large paintings with verses and excerpts from great Greek creators, such as Odysseas Elytis and Nikos Kazantzakis, written in English to convey the richness of Greek culture to guests of any nationality.
I saved the best for last: close your eyes for a moment and imagine staying at The Grove, and after a restful sleep on the comfortable mattress and feather pillows of your bed, waking up to greet the day while looking out from your balcony at the stunning view of the sea and lush gardens! Is there a greater happiness than this?

Tasteful journey of delights
As your eyes and heart rejoice from the unique view, and you live unique moments of relaxation, a wonderful taste journey is being prepared for you in the hotel kitchens, ready to be offered to you whenever you desire, day or night.
Start your day by enjoying pure Greek flavors with a rich and satisfying breakfast that will not only fill you with energy but also surprise you with its variety: cereals, fruits, dairy products, traditional cookies, handmade jams and spoon sweets, and of course, freshly squeezed orange juice. Everything awaits you at the breakfast buffet, which highlights the Greek culinary tradition.
After taking your refreshing dips in the pool, you can enjoy a light snack, a refreshing drink, or even your cocktail at the atmospheric Pool Bar, while soaking up the sun and the relaxed holiday mood.
Whether you stay within the hotel premises, or return from the beach or a nearby excursion, your lunch will satisfy your hunger with carefully crafted dishes of exceptional taste at the hotel's main restaurant. In this large, bright, and elegant space, with windows all around allowing unobstructed views of the gardens and pool, you will enjoy your lunch and dinner either from the à la carte menu or the rich buffet. The thematic buffets feature local Greek cuisines as well as favorite cuisines from abroad, such as Italian, which will become your favorites, while you discover that the barbecue, held once a week, has many enthusiastic fans.

Living at your own pace
If someone asked me to highlight one element of The Grove that I love the most, I would certainly struggle - there are so many! However, I would choose to talk about the freedom that this hotel offers you to live your vacation according to your own needs and desires.
If you want to clear your mind and rest your body, you can simply relax by the pool or on the beach, listen to music, read books, play board games in the lobby, and enjoy the exquisite meals and cocktails. On the other hand, if you are a more active and sporty type, The Grove offers sports fields to play tennis, basketball and volleyball, and of course, to enjoy countless hours of swimming and cycling.
If you enjoy excursions and travel discoveries, the staff of The Grove will suggest the most interesting day trips for you to explore the places, beauties, and landmarks of the Peloponnese, and return back to your favorite hotel filled with unique images and experiences.
The hospitable embrace of The Grove Seaside Hotel, in the unique location of Plaka Drepanou, very close to Tolo and Nafplio, is waiting to welcome you, fulfilling your every desire, offering you a unique accommodation experience that will stay with you forever!
