Where the time stops
What do you do, when you go to your favorite city for the day to work, you have four appointments and you just want to make time freeze, even for a while? Simple, you go to Klepsidra!
In Nafplio, I always acquire a bizarre relation with time. I look at the monuments, I stand and stare at the restored mansions, I travel in the past, I forget myself and suddenly I remember that I have come here for work and I feel anxious. Should I go along the city's pace? Do I deserve a break, to enjoy a bit my moments, in one of the most beautiful cities of our country?

The break you are entitled to enjoy
That's what I was thinking, turning around the corner of "DEI" (the Public Electricity Company -another nice building) and finding myself just outside "Klepsidra" (name for an ancient Greek time measuring instrument). A sign? The universe wants something to tell me!...
This will be my break for today, in this beautiful coffee-shop, full of positive energy!
In a few moments I waited for a table to be free, the delivery boys come and go, new customers come in, they take something in the hand, others come, they sit. I drink the first sip of my freshly squeezed juice (how much did I need it!) and I think that since February 2017, when Klepsidra opened, it has been very much loved.

Perfect coffee, amazing delicacies
That success is of no coincidence! Constantine, having the business together with his brother Raphael, had worked in many coffee shops in the city before making his own step; which is why I see so many people pass by and greet him. Knowing the coffee well, he went to Italy and learned his secrets, and chose the coffee served here to be an exclusive 100% Arabica variety, coming from Thessaloniki.
But it is not just the coffee you will enjoy here or it will come over at your place with the delivery service. There are also the delicious juices: orange, mixed, with exotic fruits, whoever you choose will give you energy for the whole day. Fruits like watermelon, oranges, pears, berries, pineapple, peaches, kiwi, waiting to enter the juicer!
Will not you get something to eat? You will. The issue is what your appetite tells you, because -as it is also written on the windows- everything here is "hand made and inspired." From a mini sandwich or an energy bar with peanut butter, up to a cheese bread or ... a burger pie, some bread sticks or a few cookies for the road, the choice is yours.
If you are having a lunch break, take a delicious sandwich or salad and after you have calmed down your hunger, you may also order a nice coffee.
As I look at the wide variety of products written on the blackboard, located in the high-ceilinged space, my glimpse falls onto a wall painting. An hourglass, with falling leaves. How beautiful!

Oh, these mummy-made sweets!...
Beside a refrigerator with ProVio ice creams (delicious, local, made with sheep milk), there is the refrigerator with all kind of sweets -I am a huge fan, what can I say? I go there to taste some of the famous chocolate mosaic of Mrs. Georgia, the mother of the owners. And while eating, I cannot tell which is sweeter; this delicious chocolate bite, melting in the mouth, or the part where Mrs. Georgia reveals to me the secrets of her recipe? Amazing chocolates and truffles, both delicious and big, just as my mom makes them.
I look at this smiling lady and I think it must be no coincidence, that all the children here in the family business have the smile as their strongest element. It is obviously a matter of inheritance. Hard work, big smile, fine quality and yes, time stops in Klepsidra! See you soon, guys!

For the summer, Klepsidra has launched a perfect idea: You can take away your cocktail with 5 € - Mojito, Margherita, Daquiri and more - and go for your afternoon swim or for a romantic walk by the sea or to sit calmly around the lighthouse, somewhere in the harbor to watch the sun set, or in Arvanitia beach.
In the winter, apart from a nice coffee, also taste the tea and herbs gathered from the mountains -an absolute delight!
