Nafplio - Ioannis Kapodistrias, Memorial Events 27-30 of September 2018

With four-day events in honor of the Grand Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias from the Municipality of Nafplio, Nafplio honors its Governor with research and discussions about his life and work.

Program

Thursday, September 27th 2018
Start of events, with the presentation of an educational program to Nafplion students, by teachers from the Hellenic Parliament Foundation, in collaboration with the Departments of Primary and Secondary Education of Argolis.
The program is based on the Report of the House of Greek Parliament for the Governor, which is presented in a digitized, customized version in the "Vouleftiko" building (The first Greek Parliament building in Nafplio) titled "Ioannis Kapodistrias. Routes in his life's history".

Friday, September 28th 2018
At 19:30 - In the place where the Governor attended the mass for the last time, in Saint Spyridon's Church, letters of Ioannis Kapodistrias will be read, under the symbolic title of "Diatelo imeteros" (Sincerely yours) by Emilia Valvi and Elpida Komianou, with the music accompaniment of pupils of the Primary Conservatory of Nafplio.

Saturday, September 29th 2018
At 19:00 - In "Vouleftiko" (in the Chamber of the first Parliament of Greece in Nafplio) will be held the central speech of the memorial events for the Governor, by the author of the book Mr. Eleftherios Papakostas, entitled "Ioannis Kapodistrias: A Governor for Greece".
The event will be co-ordinated by ERT's journalist Thanos Siafakas (of the National Telecommunications Company).
At 21:00 - After the speech, at Syntagma Square, the audience will enjoy the musical collaboration of the Municipal Philharmonic orchestra of Corfu and the Municipal Philharmonic orchestra of Nafplio.

Sunday, September 30th 2018
At 8:00 - Holy Mass at the Nafplio Metropolitan Church of St. George.
At 10:00 - Memorial service at the Saint Spyridon's Church
At 10:30 - Closing of the four-day events, by paying honors and wreath depositions at the Governor's Statue, at the Kapodistria Square.
