Nea Kios - "Chicago", Sunday, July 9th 2023

Chicago musical in the Ambassador Theater

The team of Mpamboozled Art Company, composed of students from the Department of Theatrical Studies in Nafplio, presents to us the adaptation of "Chicago," one of the greatest musicals of all time, on Sunday, July 9th 2023, at the Cultural Center of Nea Kios.

It is the artistic part of a thesis project by students of the Department of Theatrical Studies in Nafplio, where in the adaptation of the world-renowned play by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse, "Chicago," we will witness a story full of murder, greed, violence, corruption, adultery, and betrayal. We will let the graduates enchant us and take us to a world full of... "Justice"...

About "Chicago"
Chicago is a musical that first premiered on Broadway in 1975, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and choreography by Bob Fosse. The script of Chicago is based on the play by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, written in 1926, which focused on reporting about female criminals in 1920s Chicago. The story of Chicago is a satirical portrayal of justice and the figure of the celebrity criminal. The stories of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly (the central characters in the musical) are inspired by the real-life cases of Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner, respectively. Additionally, the stories of the five women in the Cell Block Tango are also based on true cases.
