On Saturday, November 5th 2022 in the evening, Miranda Veroulis' Quartet performs live at the Fougaro Art Center . "Miranda Canta Vinicius" - A tribute to the Brazilian poet Vinicius De Moraes (1913-1980).
Vinicius de Moraes was a cosmopolitan, bohemian poet, diplomat, lyricist, essayist, musician, singer and playwright. Lyricist of the great bossa nova hits, such as the legendary The Girl from Ipanema, but also Orfeu da Conceição, a play with music in three acts by Vinicius de Moraes and music by Antônio Carlos Jobim, which premiered in 1956 in Rio de janeiro. The play became the basis for the films Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus, 1959) and Orfeu (1999) and the musicals Orfeu (Brazil, 2010) and Black Orpheus (Broadway, 2014). The play places the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a contemporary favela in Rio de Janeiro, during the Brazilian Carnival.
Miranda Veroulis, jazz singer and songwriter, with a long-standing presence on the Greek jazz and world scene, has been honored with the medal of the Knight of the Order of Rio Branco by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, for her work in promoting Brazilian music in Greece. In her new project "Miranda Canta Vinicius", Miranda together with her selected collaborators presents a tribute to the great work of Vinicius, singing some of the wonderful compositions of his partners, such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Toquinho, Carlos Lyra, Chico Burque, etc., while at the same time introducing us to the lyrical world of the poet, rendering his verses in Greek, with references to the fascinating story of his life and his inimitable spirit...

Miranda Veroulis started her career in 1996, with the first Brazilian band made in Greece (by Brazilian and Greek-Brazilian musicians), the Banda SomBrasil, while in 2003 she formed her own band, the Desafinados, to serve her favorite music, the Brazilian jazz.
In December 2018, she released her first personal album, entitled "Onírico", under the auspices of the Brazilian Embassy in Athens.
