On Friday, June 30th 2023 in the evening, the 1st Yiannis Nonis Music Festival will take place at Syntagma Square in Nafplio.
The Yiannis Nonis Music Festival is mainly about a concert of folk/popular music, a new institution that begins, in honor of the late musician, one year after his passing.
The exceptional musician, born and raised in an artistic family from Pronia district of Nafplio, nephew of the great maestro Konstantinos Nonis, taught Composition, Advanced Music Theory, preparation for Musicology entrance exams and Music Education for children at the Municipal Conservatory of Nafplio. He also taught at the Music School of Argolis and at the "Neo Scholio" (New School), while directing the choir of the Cultural Proposal of Argolis in Argos. He collaborated with Mariza Koch and played bass for at least 8 years in the band "Chainides".

By decision of the Board of Directors of the DOPPAT of the Municipality of Nafplio, the 30th of June is established as a day dedicated to Yiannis Nonis. Additionally, Room 5 on the first floor of the Municipal Conservatory K. Nonis was named the "Ioannis Nonis Theoretical Room".
Yiannis Nonis passed away on June 6th 2022 at the age of 52, after a challenging 20-day period under mechanical support in a hospital in Athens, following an aneurysm rupture he suffered. His family, after his death, donated his organs to give life once again.
