Itria cucina italiana
There is a restaurant in Nafplio that never rests! It is constantly renewing, improving and educating our palate with tempting Italian flavors. In the recent years, it has decided to introduce itself to us in Italian: Itria cucina italiana, its new name, which perfectly matches its menu and authentic ingredients, which come directly from Italy and take the most delicious form in the hands of the owner, a distinguished chef, professor at Le Monde culinary school, and author, Mr. Elias Kokkoris.
Because this was the first pasta in history! According to texts by the 12th-century Arab geographer Muhammad al-Idrisi, in Palermo, Sicily, housewives made strings of dough which they called itria. It is a type of pasta that is still produced today in Sicily under the name trii.
The word itria is thought to originate from the Greek itrion. Itria were sesame and honey thin pies, a meal very common in Greece during that time.
Passion for good food
The leading role play here Elias and Stella, a young couple, passionate about their work. Elias is 20 years chef in Athens and professor for 14 years at "Le Monde" School. He had also earned many awards and is considered one of the best chefs of his generation.
