Opal Executive Suites

If you are reading this review of Opal Executive Suites, you are probably in the process of looking for quality accommodation in the Nafplio area. If you will have the patience to follow my step-by-step or, rather, word-by-word tour until we reach the end of my Sunday trip, you will realize that this accommodation -with its beautiful gemstone name- is not just a place to stay, but should be the reason to choose Nafplio for your next excursion.

Opal, an unusual material
Once you arrive in Nafplio and take the road to the most famous and closest beach, named Karathona, and before you leave the city, you will see on the right side of the road a wonderful newly built, stone-built and, at the same time, modern residential complex. In fact, it's a luxury suite complex, open from summer 2023. The stone, chosen by the owners for its construction, does indeed resemble opal, at least in color, although it is found in various shades. Greyish-green, as if it were carved from old Epirotic stones, as if they received coordinates for its exact placement. It is worth noting that the owners are knowledgeable, builders and, as I observe, have a refined taste in terms of design as well.
The complex is located in such a position, that it offers panoramic views and the most impressive element, which is imprinted in the mind as one approaches it, is "Panagia Evangelistria" behind and above the Opal Executive Suites. The Holy Temple is located at such a point that -if I may be so bold- it seems as if it is "standing" on top of the property and diffusing a different kind of energy into the surrounding area.
Some of you may be wondering what opal is, and for you I'm going to pause for a moment to tell you a little bit about this stone that, personally, I love. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that, because of its unusual structure, it refracts light and its surface shows a rare alternation of different colors that iridesce. This is how the lodge, which piqued my interest on this trip, looks like. It is one color you think it is, when the clouds stand over it with a willingness to wash away every craggy corner, and another color, when it is bathed in the beneficent Nafplio sun.
During the Middle Ages, it was believed that if one wrapped an opal stone in laurel leaves and held it in one's hand, one could become invisible. Mary, one of the people who give life -and their souls for the lodge- tempted me to try the laurel leaf and opal experiment as she stood in the doorway, waiting and welcoming me warmly, with a clear gaze and a broad smile.

Discreet luxury, privacy, sustainability
I enter the imposing complex and sit comfortably in a beautiful corner in the courtyard. Beautiful plants, comfy poufs and a special stone-shaped table, like the ones they use in spas. While waiting for Maria -who will brief me on the collective effort, called "Opal Executive Suites"- I notice a handsome and smiling young man coming and going with breakfast trays. Maria senses the puzzlement in my expression and explains that it's "Sunday wake-up time" and breakfast is served in the room. It's a way to offer the client maximum luxury and privacy and, at the same time, we invest in sustainability, she chirped to me. All rooms offer good view, which every guest would like having, while enjoying the particularly stylish and comfortable room space or the private pool while sipping their morning coffee.
Each room has a tablet, by which the guest can easily select the continental breakfast and the time he would like it to be delivered to his room. The process is very simple, as through a touchscreen he sets quantities, types of food and beverages and time of service. The raw materials are rigorously selected from local producers and the managers' concern is also to promote local products.
This avoids the "wastage" of food found in large restaurant buffets and helps to ensure that future generations are able to meet their own survival and development needs.
The construction and operation of the private swimming pools in the suites, with water that is free of chemicals, is based on this philosophy.

Unique accommodation experience -an absolute goal
We ought to be grateful that we were born and raised in a country, that is characterized and recognized worldwide for both its culture and the value of hospitality. This precious value has been guided by the people of Opal Executive Suites and since May 2023, when the property was opened, they strive daily to improve the guest's stay, with services and facilities that result from daily research and concern for the guest.
Always with respect to privacy and in recognition of the need for total relaxation, massage, spa, hairdressing and in-room dining services are offered. The need to provide such services is certainly also due to the degree of comfort and attractiveness of the rooms. Beautiful and cozy spaces, amphitheatrical view of Nafplio from the balconies, private swimming pool with uniquely decorated surroundings and a choice of comfortable outdoor furniture for maximum relaxation all year round.
At the same time, for guests who, until now, have not had the chance to be guided through the magical city of Nafplio and are not content with enjoying the view of the Palamidi castle from their room, all the necessary information is available at the reception. Do not hesitate to ask, you will feel that the accommodation also offers a guide!

Luxurious interiors, atmosphere of warmth, sense of intimacy
Opal's rooms are dreamy! As soon as you cross the threshold, you will feel the "mixing" of all these aromas and sensations. Privacy, luxury, modern and contemporary design, comfort that only our home could offer, positive energy and a sense of euphoria. Stone, as a material, also prevails in the interiors, offering warmth and elegance. The choice of suede and velvet fabrics in the furniture adds even more to the luxury of the space. Large-sized beds by Coco-Mat offer maximum sleeping satisfaction and, at the same time, are linked to the concept of sustainability, which lies in the philosophy of Opal Executive Suites.
The modern kitchen invites you to make the most of it. The bathroom is inspired by a luxury spa, equipped with all the necessary toiletries and hygiene items, so that even the most demanding guest can enjoy the best hospitality. It is very important to mention the existence of an elevator, which offers extra convenience to everybody.
Recently, the well-known Greek television series "The Land of the Olive Tree" chose the accommodation for filming and, undoubtedly, those of us who watched the specific scenes received a little of the glamour of this gem, which dominates the edge of the city of Nafplio. At the same time, I would say that its choice by the makers of the series could be a barometer for the wider region, which anyway remains always so timeless, but also so modern...

As I leave this gem of owners and the people who work to preserve and enhance its glamour and value, I take one last look behind me, as if to lock in my mind a universal image of it. Again my gaze falls on the Holy Church of the Annunciation ("Evangelistria" Church), majestically towering above us. At that moment I realized, there is a path right next to the lodge, leading you to the church and I embraced Maria's point about the "strategic" location of the complex, especially for those who would like to offer the experience and luxury of a boutique wedding to their guests. The Opal Executive Suites is committed to providing the right hospitality conditions -in a truly magnificent space- for such an important event in anyone's life, and the proximity to the temple is an added bonus.
